So They Kill and Are Killed

The video released by Wilāyat Baghdād taking the title taken from Qur’anic verse 9:111, animates through the chronological history of Iraq’s political leaders. A small section shows Day of Ashura focusing on the self flagellation followed by the crux of the dialogue, which is delivered by a screeching masked man, finger pointing into the camera in an attempt to excite exclamation. The video transitions to a ‘monitor recording with hand held device’ of a CCTV vision showing a man, (who is circled in red) entering a Mosque, who looks around and after a moment puts his hands into his jacket pockets presumably detonating the explosion.

“Indeed, God has purchased from the believers their lives and their properties [in exchange] for that they will have Paradise. They fight in the cause of God, so they kill and are killed. [It is] a true promise [binding] upon Him in the Torah and the Gospel and the Qur’an. And who is truer to his covenant than God? So rejoice in your transaction which you have contracted. And it is that which is the great attainment.”

This event which is shown in the ‘monitor recording with hand held device’  is from the April 22nd 2016, Shia Mosque attack in the capital’s southwestern district of Al-Radwaniya. The attack resulted with eight people being killed and over thirty being wounded. (here)
