Four and a half minute video released via Boko Haram of three Geology Academics and survey party who were kidnapped 25th July 2017 whilst doing oil exploration work in the Chad basin.
The men, working with the University of Maiduguri (UNIMAID) were seized on Tuesday in an ambush near Jibi village in Borno State, North-East Nigeria. A spokesman for the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC) said in an interview with (BBC) that one of the men, Ibrahim Gildado was found alive.
At least 62 people have been killed in Maiduguri and surrounding area since early June. Seventeen people were killed in the city in one week this month.
In the video one man speaks most of the dialogue which outlines the “promised” freedom if the groups demands are met. At one point in the video the man on the screen left starts to talk, there is a poignant moment as his friend rests his hand on his leg in an attempt to reassure him.
