The twenty three minute video, “Sword of Courage” from Jazirah is a threaded together POV battle vision of Daesh storming an outpost and looting equipment.
This attack and plunder methodology has evolved from late 2014 as technology, training and equipment have become available. Daesh now start the attack from greater distances. As opposed to “sneaking up” and overwhelming their target, Daesh now have guided rockets, artillery and drones which has given them an ability to attack with fewer fighters for the same resource rich outcomes.
The video shows a half dozen lightly armed APC’s carry fighters to a post which has come under advanced fire and drone bombing. The advanced attack has used a grader-tractor to breach the post’s defensive dirt berms allowing a VBIED to drive through and detonate. A small number of survivors from the initial attack are slowly and maliciously picked off, their bodies defiled. The ammunition is looted and anything else that is not nailed down is either destroyed or stolen.
Drones dropping small explosive are now common in lightening war.
Recent reports from Coalition claim the numbers of Daesh fighters has taken a toll in recent months, however there remains a hard core of well trained and fluid fighters still causing damage and providing training.
